CRRC maintains several fields for the use of our members, and we are always on the lookout for potential flying sites. If you know of a plot of land that might make an good flying field, please click here to send mail to webmaster "at" charlesriverrc.org.

Davis Field

Davis Field, in Sudbury, Mass., is the primary CRRC site for glider flying.  The field is also open to electric aircraft.  Davis Field is a large mowed soccer field bordered by hay fields located on the south side of Route 117.  Ample parking is available adjacent to the field.  CRRC has a permit to use the field at all times that it is not used for organized soccer.  Soccer season is usually limited to the fall (mid Sept. to mid Nov.) when flying occurs primarily on Sunday mornings.  The field is the site of the annual CRRC Soar-In contest.

Bill Martin Flying Field

Located on the grounds of the Charles River Reservation in Medfield, Mass., the Bill Martin Flying Field is shared by CRRC with the Millis Model Club. All types of RC aircraft may be flown here, although it is best suited for power models. Facilities include a well maintained grass runway, transmitter impound, frequency control board, pilot stations protected by side fences, a spacious pit area, and parking. Entrance to the field is restricted by a gate which remains locked at all times. Club members are issued a key for a $5 refundable deposit.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Well, this isn't really a CRRC field, but Cape Cod has some of the best sites for slope soaring in the region.  The Cape Cod Slopes page reviews the top 10 slope soaring sites on the Cape - a great map and individual writeups of each location by one of our resident "Capers", Helmut Lelke.

Other Slopes

Our Other Slopes pages contain a collection of writeups of other slope soaring sites all over the country, and even some interesting international spots!

Indoor RC Sites

Our Indoor RC Sites information page has maps for the several sites we use to fly indoor RC models.  Notice of these scheduled dates can be found on the web event calendar and on our club email YahooGroup.
