Home > Flying Sites > Davis Farm Field Poor Farm Meadow is a Sailplane and Electric Only Flying Area (Bill Martin Field is for powered airplanes) When Davis Field is not available, Poor Farm Meadow can be used for Electrics and Gliders. Poor Farm Meadow is a hay field at the corner of Willis and Marlboro Roads in Sudbury. It should only be used when Davis Field is taken over by sports because the two fields are close enough to potentially cause radio interferance to each other. The tall grass usually precludes the use of a winch or high start so only electrics and HLGs will work there. Heading west on Route 117 Go past Davis Field.Go through the stop light at Dakin/Pantry Rd. Turn left at the next intersection onto Puffer Lane. Go to the end of Puffer Lane where there is a stop sign at a Y. Go basically straight ahead through the stop sign onto Haynes Rd. Follow Haynes Rd. to the bottom of the hill where Marlboro Rd. goes right at the outside of a curve. Follow Marlboro Rd. southwest going through an odd angled intersection with Morse/Mossman Rds. Soon you will see Poor Farm Meadow on your right. There is a little parking on the right. You may have to park on the side street (Meachan Rd.) to the left. If you go too far, you will come to the Wilis Rd. intersection. Heading northwest on Route 27: Go through the old center of Sudbury and head northwest on Route 27/Maynard Rd. In about a mile, you turn a fairly sharp right onto Marlboro Rd.Go about a half mile to a stop sign at the intersection with Willis Rd. Go through the stop sign, past the sign on the left for Poor Farm Meadow and past the house on your left. Soon you come to the open field on your left. |
