This slope is found south of Sydney, Australia., on the Lady Wakehurst Drive, in the Royal National Park. It is marked as Otford Lookout.

There are two sites here, within 300 metres. One works well in easterly through to South winds and the other works in east/north east winds. Our club leases the sites from the Royal National Park.

People are welcome to fly as visitors, bearing in mind that if they do not carry insurance (MAAA membership) they take the risk.

The slope is some 600ft in height and generates terrific lift as the winds come in straight from the ocean. Landings are reasonably easy, but look intimidating at first glance. There is grass to land on at the northern slope (E -S winds) and a bigger area at the southern slope.

There is a tourist road running only 10 - 15 metres from the launch/landing zone. If you look at the jpeg, you will see that the entire coast line has numerous possible launch sites.

About 1klm south of Otford, is Bald Hill, which is where man lifting kites were flown from nearly 100 yrs ago. This is an awesome site, which is utilised by hang gliders/paragliders, but when conditions are too strong for them, (25 - 35knots) or during the week, you can fly there as well. The lift is unbelievable, like an express elevator, and smooth. It is possible to fly there with the hang gliders, but can become crowded.

BTW a crowd over here, is about 10 people. Anyone coming to visit the east coast of Australia, is welcome to contact me for some directions and more slope sites.
