[Courtesy of Richard Dow, airease "at" webtv.net, July 1999] Hi All Let me share an experience that happened at the field today. On the third flight to after a normal launch, strange things started to happen to my plane. Hit a thermal about 2 or 3 hundred of the launch. Made about 2 turns and plane seems to tip stall even though the speed and the bank angle seemed ok. Made a couple a more turns and the plane stalls then goes into a death spiral. I yell those dreaded words: I ain't got it. Next hold the radio high above my head and control returns. I next fly the plane down and land as soon as possible. On the ground I collasped the anttena and range check the radio, it seems ok. Check all the receiver connections. Everything checks ok. Borrow a volt meter, check both battery packs, tx & rx. Again all ok. Turn on both plane and tx go to pull out antenna and it comes out off the tx!. Feeling like one lucky guy, screw in antenna and all is well. Guys, I was lucky. This almost cost me a new plane. You might want to test your tx before your next flight. Rich |
